There are three options for personalising your plates: Restyle - Choose a new style with your existing letters and numbers. Personalised - Choose new letters and numbers with set combinations. Custom - Choose new letters and numbers with unlimited combinations.
The cost for personalised plates varies depending on the design you choose. Pictured above 'UNIQUE' custom plates made from a flexible acrylic (prestige flexi) retail price $3,500. Being an already desirable number plate just for its meaning, this seven character prestige plate without abbreviation would now fetch a considerably higher price than retail.
Australian Plate History/Infomation
From 1910 onwards all Australian plates started at number 1 and were manufactured in (enamel) each number being manually embossed into a heavy gauge steel plate, etched and coated with rich black and white vitreous enamel. Australian vehicle registration plates or number plates are issued by state, territory, governments, and the armed forces of Australia. The plates are associated with a vehicle and are generally intended to last for the time the vehicle remains registered in the state, though as they become unreadable (or for other reasons) they may be recalled or replaced with newer ones. There are a wide range of different styles and colours to choose from and once you buy personalised plates, you own them for life, even if you move interstate or no longer use those plates. You have the ability to create your own number and letter combination, or re-style your existing number plate.
